I enjoyed this book and it is a great source of official scientific information, identifying different sugars, how to reduce them, but when I was reading the section about Digestive Problems arising from too much sugar, the only disease they mentioned was IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). To me, this was only one condition of a few. There is Leaky Gut too.

Obviously this book was coming from mainstream medicine scientific background, being careful with its findings / research on sugar.

If they were coming from an alternative medicine perspective, then they would probably have  mentioned all the other effects that sugar causes. This is what I really wished they did.  i.e. how too much sugar and yeast causes Candida Albicans and Fungi overgrowth in the digestive tract, and is one of the major causes of diseases starting in the gut. Candida is a sugar-fermenting yeast that spreads over the organs like a spider web, preventing you from absorbing nutrients from your food.  It is also a fungi, which if overgrown, can causes loss of good bacteria in the gut. You can never just change your food and cure yourself, you need a treatment for Candida, Fungi and Intestinal Worms and Aspartame, then the body could start absorbing nutrients properly from the foods we eat.

And also fact that everyone is different, there are other underlying causes why we are not absorbing our foods correctly so the body can do its job. There is exposure to toxic metals, high stress, and treatments such as antibiotics and chemotherapy which kill off the good bacteria.
