Hair and Beauty ethical vegan products
At Earthbar, we handcraft a range of beauty products that are 100% naturally derived and vegan. We believe in creating uncompromisingly ethical products that are good for you, good for your soul and good for the planet.
Our ‘back to basics’ approach is critical at every step of our process. We rely on ancient methods to create our soaps and skincare products. Our products are made using vegetable oils and vegan butters – plus heavenly essential oils – so they smell gorgeous and offer a great lather.
Locally sourced products are also important to us. We use homegrown lemons, oranges and lavender straight from Christie’s orchard to make our beauty products, where possible. Some of our carrier oils are infused using leaves from kawakawa trees on Christie’s property too.
Christie Rishworth, is a proud mum to three teenagers and a menagerie of pets, including sheep, quails, chickens, Indie the cat, and Beau the retrodoodle dog. When she’s not creating her products in the laundry, you’d usually find her spending time with either her human or fur family members, or tending to the fruit in her mature orchard.
Christie dived headfirst into the creation of her ethical vegan products after a painful, 9-month battle with scarlet fever and a secondary skin rash. After trying countless products (many of which made the painful rash worse), she discovered that her homemade kawakawa skin balm soothed her skin far more effectively than anything else. Following her recovery, she started looking into what usually goes into beauty products and realised that there was a better way.
Since establishing Earth Bars, Christie has dedicated herself to making high-quality vegan products that are accessible to everyone. Her passion for her craft is as evident in her traditional process as it is in her divine products.
And she can’t wait to share it with you. Please go to read more about the products at her online shop:
ecostore is all about kinder, safer, eco-friendly products to use in and around the home and on the body.
From biodegradable ingredients, to our carboNZero certified manufacturing and sugar plastic packaging, Ecostore is constantly working on ways to save energy and resources, and reduce waste.
Since 1993 we’ve been making safer plant and mineral-based products you can trust. So you can choose products that are safer for you, your family and our world, without compromising on performance.
Our plastic bottles are made from renewable sugarcane. It’s 100% recyclable at kerbside and takes carbon out of the atmosphere as it grows, for a lower carbon footprint.
Malcolm and Melanie Rands founded ecostore on New Zealand’s Northland coast in 1993.
Part of a group that created an eco-village nestled in a valley dotted with streams and surrounded by native forest, the Rands set out to make their home as clean and green as the land they called home.
By creating hardworking, highly effective products for people and their home, removing harmful or unnecessary chemicals, the ecostore ethos has always been to put people’s health first and give them the choice to live clean.
From one New Zealand family to another – the Rands passed the baton to the Kraus family in 2013. Now led by Pablo Kraus, our goal is to be the world’s most trusted and sustainable home and body care brand.
Today we continue to proudly develop, manufacture and pack our household cleaners, laundry, body care, skincare, baby care and oral care products at our own carboNZero certified factory in Auckland and share them with the world.
Using ecostore products, it costs less to clean your dishes in the dishwasher and do your laundry.
In 2018, New Zealand advocacy group Consumer put 13 dishwasher tablets to the test to find out which offered better performance and value. Our Dishwasher Tabs performed brilliantly against the big brands, ranking 4th overall, doing a great job for a great price.
